1 August. Orcalab reports:
10:06 PDT No calls but orcas nearby
I knew as soon as I posted the message that we were not aware of anything during the night that a report would come in about whales travelling through. Indeed, it seems that possibly the G17s came up from the east, travelled the Vancouver Island shore and left the Strait via Weynton Passage. They are now in Queen Charlotte Strait continuing to the west. Like the A30s the night before they did all this travel silently! These reports came from Stubbs Island Whale Watching and Pacific Northwest Kayaking. We also heard that there are whales westbound from further east in the Strait so it is possible the G clan groups are on the move.
